Bag Type:
A brief details about FIBCs Bag Type: A, B, C & D.
Type A bulk bags also known as non-conductive bulk bags will be made of plain polypropylene woven fabrics. These do not provide protection against static discharge when their contents rub against the inside surface during filling, emptying, or internal movement of the contents of the bag. These are used to transport non-flammable products.
Type B FIBCs just like Type A bulk bags are made of plain-woven polypropylene fabrics and other non-conductive fabrics. They also do not have a mechanism for dissipating static electric discharges, however, they do have low “breakdown voltage” which means that under certain conditions they would conduct SOME static electricity away from their contents. These can transport dry flammable powders so long as there are no flammable gases present.
Type C FIBC bulk bags are CONDUCTIVE, and they can be grounded. The fabrics used in their construction is interwoven with conducting threads in a grid pattern. These must be connected to an electrical grounding during filling and discharging. These are used when flammable gases, aerosols, and powders may be present.
Type D bulk bags are antistatic bulk bags, also known as static dissipative bags. The fabrics used in their construction safely prevent or dissipate any static build up and prevent discharges without the need for a ground.
